Joanna Demarest, The Northwest Folklife Festival Storytelling Community Coordinator, is reaching out to the storytellers in the Pacific Northwest to identify potential performers for the Festival and to ascertain the interest in a workshop on The Art of Storytelling.  We want to help grow storytellers and to keep storytelling alive in the Pacific Northwest.

The NWFL Festival and the Seattle Storytelling Guild will be sponsoring a 5-week workshop in the Seattle area this fall.  The details of which are currently being determined but we need your help.  We have a survey at https://forms.gle/nJcyg8khd3n5dq8k7  (or use the QR code below) we would love for you to complete.  Your information will be kept confidential.

Description: Learn the basics of good live, oral, performative storytelling. Learn how to shape a personal experience/memory into a compelling oral narrative and recall all its details without memorization. Learn what works when telling to an audience and what doesn’t.

Using traditional folktales and our own personal tales we will explore the art of storytelling. Each participant shall come away with a tale to tell, whether for friends and family or on the stage at the next StoryOly event.
