Storytelling Workshops We've Heard About

Arts Legal Clinic

Presenter -- Washington Lawyers for the Arts and the University of Washington


Seattle-June 11, 2007—Washington Lawyers for the Arts, a non-profit organization dedicated to supporting the arts in Washington State, announced that they have partnered with the University of Washington School of Law to offer the Arts Legal Clinic at William Gates Hall for the months of June through August 13, 2007. For the summer months, University of Washington professors and Arts Legal Clinic volunteer intellectual property attorneys, will offer 30 minute confidential consultations twice a month to artists and arts organizations in the state of Washington with an emphasis on legal issues related to arts and entertainment including copyright or trademark licensing, fair use, contract issues, non-profit issues or other intellectual property.

The offering of the Arts Legal Clinic at the University of Washington is part of a larger expansion effort by the Washington Lawyers for the Arts to offer the Arts Legal Clinic throughout Washington. The Arts Legal Clinic will be offered in Spokane, Everett, and Edmonds soon with more details to follow in the coming months.

Summer Clinic Details:

When:

Artists are welcome to make appointments on the 2nd and 4th Mondays of each month, between 6:30 pm and 8:30 pm. Special appointment times are available for representatives of arts organizations.

Where:

University of Washington School of Law, located in William H. Gates Hall near the northwest corner of the University of Washington campus by the intersection of 15th Avenue NE and NE 43rd Street.

Cost:

$20 donation is suggested to defray the costs of overhead expenses such as internet connectivity and phone service.
